As of 6th october 2009, spotify is on an invitation only basis, So you can't even get a free account without an invite from a premium member.

But not in my world... EVERYTHING is possible... with thanks to Josh!... he sent me the below link... and it still worked!

So... as of 06/10/09, you can click here and get free spotify access to the basic package.
