On the 8th May 2008 a fire at woolwich dockards station caused chaos for thousands of london commuters.
Shortly after 7:45 a train driver pulling into Woolwich dockards noticed an "explosion" under the platform at the South East London station.
He evactuated his train, and quickly the delays built up.
The explosion was speculated as being rubbish under the platform in itself. I was walking in to the station at plumstead and there was a mad rush of people leaving, commutors were confused, busses were packed. That whole section of line was closed until 9:17 according to a source.
Trains didn't return to normal until the next morning.
Transport for London issued a release accepting train tickets on relevent tube and buss services. All i can say is Bring On Woolwich DLR.
