Time travel

Last night i was talking for hours with my good friend Sukhy about time travel, and and what would happen if you traveled back in time and inpregenated your mother. Could Is it possible for you to travel back in time, and be yout own father? Or would that destroy the space time continum.

What brought this on?

Apart from the social and moral implications of impregnating your mother what would happen?
I cannot get my head around it, i would just like to know how to visualise that, so i hope this article will help me see it more clearly.

While discussing this with you, (my reader) i hope to work out the missing piece of the puzzle and understand the concept of quantum dynamics.

Now i have read most of the book "a breif history of time", and its an amazing read, BUT it didn't give me full understanding of all of the concepts involved.

If you were in the future and traveled back in time and caused an event big enough to throw off the balance of time, and changed your destiny would that affect the version of you that traveled back in time in the first place? or would you remember seing yourself.

Heres another example, I recently had a car crash.
If i went back intime and told my self not to drive that day i would there for not have had the car crash. Does that mean i don't exist in the future to travel back to tell me not to drive the car.

Traveling Forward

It has been proven that you can move forward into time using the theory of time dilation. What this means is the further away from a gravitational body the faster time moves. So time passes faster for someone in space than someone on earth.
If this were to be exagerated and the rate of time dilation in space was 60000% (60 times faster). if you go up for 24 minutes, you would come down a day later. And this has been proven.
It was a while ago now, probably the 90's when some scientists went in to space with a clock, and kept the exact same clock on earth. The one that went into space came down a few miliseconds ahead as the one on earth. Each time this experiment was carried out the results were the same, proving that no anomolies in the experimant occored.

Taveling backwards

I think it is impossible to travel back in time. And the only way we can move forward is by dilation, which doesn't really sound like time travel, but it is. I could put 10 grand in a bank, then time dilate forward 500 years, and providing the monkeys haven't taken over i would be super rich.

In short

Time travel.... Not possible.
